NJAEC Hosts EXCEPTIONAL LEARNERS 101--May 29, 2009

Our crack team of presenters: Amanda Newman-Godfrey, from the AIE Consortium and Laura Tunis from The Commission for the Blind.
They led us through basic information about Exceptional Learners. We explored movement, music and writing through the eyes of student with special needs. Then we made original collages using multi-sensory materials such as bubble wrap, textured papers, yarn and naturally scented objects like pine needles.

Gail Scuderi hard at work on her collage. We used colored glue because it's easier for students with visual impairments to see it.

Perkins Center for the Arts in Collingswood hosted the event in their wonderful workshop space. Thanks Perkins!
We were joined by our friends from VSA Delaware. We were glad to have them with us!

A beautiful, multisensory landscape is born. Note the varied textures used.
